Our Impact

Our product is salt-free and citrus-free.

01

What if all fresh water turns salty?

Conventional water softeners utilize salt, which ultimately finds its way into our rivers, lakes, and groundwater, leading to an increase in freshwater salinity. High salt levels in water pose a risk to the quality and affordability of drinking water, food production, public health, marine life, and infrastructure. Removing salt, in the form of sodium chloride, after it's been added to water, requires a lot of energy and is costly - making it neither a feasible nor a sustainable solution.

02

Why add carcinogens to water?

While substances such as chlorine are crucial disinfectants added to water, they can also produce potentially dangerous and carcinogenic byproducts when they interact with specific organic materials, such as citric acid. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has put restrictions on several of these disinfection byproducts (DBPs) in our water systems, mandating that the concentration of natural organic matter is controlled in order to prevent exceeding harmful DBP levels.

The Science Behind Our Product

Hard water scale is primarily composed of calcium and magnesium carbonates, which form when hard water evaporates or is heated, leaving behind mineral deposits. By displacing a few carbonate ions with our product we disrupt the ordered crystal lattice structure of scale, causing it to breakapart and become more soluble in water.

Our Team

We are a group of concerned scientists who see the need to preserve our water reserves and the need and opportunity for safe hard water scale treatment.
